The more medals, the better: Boxing teams prepare for an important competition
The Armenian national boxing teams under the age of 22 held a training session at the “Olympavan” ahead of the European Championship.
The teams, led by Karen Aghamalyan, are preparing for the European Championship for under-22s, which will take place in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
As we have already reported, the rosters of both the men’s and women’s teams have been announced.
The head coach of the men’s team, Karen Aghamalyan, evaluated the team’s form and the training camp, also discussing their goals:
This is our second training camp, and it has gone well. We have 10 days left before the tournament. We both have time and don’t have time. What we needed for today, we’ve achieved, but now we’re working on speed and accuracy. The more medals, the better.
Speaking about the team’s composition, Aghamalyan highlighted that many of them have even participated in senior competitions:
Almost the entire team has participated in senior tournaments. The boys have competed and even won medals. We also have two new girls.
Last year’s European champion for under-22s, Elida Kocharyan, will also be competing this year. The Armenian athlete promises to win gold again:
I’ll do everything to return home with gold once more, and I’ll fight for it in every way. My immediate goal is the European Championship. I don’t want to get ahead of myself, we leave in a week, but for every athlete, the Olympic medal is the ultimate goal.
Ruslan Aslikyan is also going to the tournament to defend his title:
The goal in this tournament is to retain the championship, have good fights, and win. I’m improving my form day by day; the rest will be shown in the tournament.
Let us remind you that the European Boxing Championship for under-22s will take place in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, from October 8 to 21.
