Armenia Wins 12th Gold Medal at the European U20 and U23 Weightlifting Championships
The Armenian team has won another gold medal at the European U20 and U23 Weightlifting Championships taking place in Raszyn, Poland. In total, Armenia has secured 12 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
In the 109 kg weight category, Garik Karapetyan lifted 182 kg in the snatch event, earning him a small gold medal in that category. In the clean and jerk, Karapetyan lifted 220 kg, once again winning a small gold medal.
With a combined total of 402 kg, the Armenian weightlifter stood on the top of the podium, becoming the champion.
Liana Gyurjyan also won a gold medal in the women’s 87 kg weight category. She achieved a combined total of 230 kg (100 kg in snatch + 130 kg in clean and jerk), earning small gold medals in both events.
In the same weight category, another Armenian representative, Margarita Arakelyan, secured the runner-up title with a combined total of 214 kg (93 kg in snatch + 121 kg in clean and jerk).
