OpenAI restricts the use of ChatGPT in legal and medical fields

OpenAI, a leader in the field of artificial intelligence, has changed its service usage policy as of November 1, prohibiting users from receiving legal and medical advice via ChatGPT.

According to the company’s official announcement, this crucial step aims to prevent the spread of incorrect or potentially dangerous advice in sensitive matters related to health and law. OpenAI emphasizes once again that ChatGPT is intended exclusively for educational and informational purposes and cannot, under any circumstances, replace the professional opinion of a qualified lawyer or doctor.

Simultaneously, the scope of user responsibility has been clarified, stating that data obtained through ChatGPT should not be used as the fundamental or sole basis for decision-making in legal or medical situations.

Although the change came into effect on the stated date and applies to all users, in the case of test inquiries, the program continues to warn about potential dangers and recommend consulting a specialist, which was also present previously; therefore, the change in regulations does not yet have a visible or radical impact.
