Ararat Mirzoyan Invited to Russia Amid Signing of Armenian-American Strategic Partnership Document

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced that Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has been invited to the Russian Federation. Lavrov made this statement during a press conference.

Lavrov noted that their dialogue is ongoing and that Ararat Mirzoyan has accepted the invitation. Lavrov expressed confidence that the visit will take place soon.

On January 14, in Washington, Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken are set to sign a document on strategic partnership between the Republic of Armenia and the United States of America. This was reported by Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Kremlin has reacted to the Armenian-American strategic partnership document. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that this is Yerevan’s sovereign decision, but it is essential to weigh its positive and negative aspects, emphasizing that Moscow does not dictate to Yerevan whom it should cooperate with.

According to Lavrov, what matters is not the title or content of the document but its practical implications. Meanwhile, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented that the U.S. has never played a stabilizing role in the South Caucasus.
