New Program Launched in Armenia to Combat Domestic Violence
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has initiated a new rehabilitation program for individuals who have committed domestic or household violence. The program aims to prevent and mitigate violence by helping offenders rebuild their physical, psychological, social, or professional capacities, enabling them to return to normal life and actively participate in society.
Under this initiative, individuals who have committed domestic violence will receive psychological and social support, along with assistance to overcome harmful behaviors such as alcoholism, drug addiction, and gambling. The program will be implemented through state-funded grants and involve trained social workers, psychologists, and legal experts.
The rehabilitation process includes individual and group sessions featuring various educational and support modules. These include developing emotional balance, anger management, effective communication, parenting skills, and planning healthy relationships.
For those serving sentences in correctional institutions or under probation, the corresponding programs will be carried out by the respective correctional facilities or probation services.
Additionally, the program will collaborate with healthcare and other social organizations to ensure comprehensive support for individuals. The Ministry will oversee the program’s implementation and monitor its effectiveness.
