“We have achieved tangible progress in the process of normalizing relations with Azerbaijan in 2024,” says Mirzoyan
The efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are directed toward creating a peaceful and stable environment around Armenia, announced Ararat Mirzoyan during the discussion session of the state budget.
In this context, he addressed Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. Notable progress was made in the normalization process in 2024, specifically with the first instance of delimitation of the interstate border.
Both parties will formally notify each other regarding the enactment of the regulation in the near future. Following this, in the remaining period of 2024 and into 2025, we anticipate that the delimitation work will continue, as long as nothing impedes the process at this time. The quicker and more efficient it is, the better, – Mirzoyan stated.
Significant progress has also been made in the peace treaty negotiation process. Azerbaijan refused to sign the treaty based on the already agreed-upon points, proposing instead to address the disputed issues later. However, negotiations will continue, and the peace treaty is expected to be signed as soon as possible.
There remain one or two terms that we will continue to work on, which is a normal part of the negotiation process. I must cautiously express optimism that we will reach an agreement on these remaining terms in the near future, after which the treaty will be ready for signing.
