In Lebanon, the number of injured and dead due to the pager explosion has risen
A pager bombing in Lebanon on September 17 brings the death toll to 11. 4,000 people are reported injured, 400 of whom are in critical condition. The explosives in Hezbollah’s personal telephone handsets detonated mostly in crowded places. Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani is also among the wounded. The latter, according to IRNA media, suffered superficial injuries.
The explosions occurred in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the Bekaa and southern Lebanon. Syrian media reported that pagers of Hezbollah members were also blown up there.
CNN published that the bombings were the result of a joint operation by Israeli intelligence, Mossad and the Israeli army. However, Israel did not comment. Iran also condemned the actions, calling them “Israeli terrorism.”
Hezbollah representatives vowed to take revenge on Israel “for the criminal aggression also directed against civilians.”
