The coin commemorating the 150th anniversary of a French-Armenian painter is being put into circulation
As reported by the Central Bank, the silver coin “150th Anniversary of Edgar Chahine’s Birth” is being put into circulation.
Edgar Chahine was a French-Armenian painter. He was born in Vienna and studied at the Mechitarists Congregation in Constantinople.
Chahine’s works are preserved in the National Library of Paris, the Mechitarists Congregation Gallery in Venice, the Ca’ Pesaro Civic Museum, the National Gallery of Armenia (with more than 300 pieces), the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, and several museums in European countries.
