Discussions Aimed at the Safe Management of Hazardous Chemical Substances at the “Nairit Factory”
An interdepartmental discussion was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Rescue Service, focused on the management of hazardous chemical substances present at the “Nairit Factory”.
The discussion addressed the current situation and issues of the factory, including the preservation of chemical substances and equipment on site, future neutralization efforts, management of non-operational and partially demolished buildings, as well as the risks and environmental impacts of these factors. The ongoing work of the interdepartmental task force, which is primarily aimed at developing mechanisms for managing the chemical substances at the factory and neutralizing non-operational equipment, was reviewed on-site. A package of proposals was formed based on the reports, which will be presented to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for further organization of the work.
By the order of the Prime Minister, the interdepartmental task force formed at the “Nairit Factory” began its work in July 2021. The group was established to study the chemical waste and hazardous substances at the factory, regulate them, and ensure the safety of the site.
