Lecturers and Students of the Agrarian University March to the Government Building
The government has decided to allocate part of the second building of the “Agrarian University” to the “French University.” This decision is included in the list of issues for the October 31 government session that do not require detailed reporting. Before the session began, Arayik Harutyunyan announced that revisions would need to be made to the decision regarding the Agrarian University.
This decision has caused significant discontent among students and lecturers of the Agrarian University. Currently, they are marching to the Government building. The university’s rector is not among the participants.
According to lecturers, the building has more than 40 classrooms and several research laboratories with unique equipment. They also mentioned that a petition was previously conducted regarding this decision, but their signatures never reached the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.
According to the government’s decision, a 4,775 square meter area from the left side of the central entrance of the second building of the Agrarian University is to be reclaimed and allocated to the French University in Armenia for 11 years, with free usage rights. The same decision states that the 5th floor of the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia should also be allocated to the French University. An additional area of 1.94 square meters is planned to be provided indefinitely to the Agrarian University.
