U.S. President Joe Biden Sends a Letter to Nikol Pashinyan
On October 22, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received U.S. President Joe Biden’s special assistant Michael Carpenter and Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Louis Bono. The participants discussed a number of issues regarding the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty, as reported by the Armenian government.
In addition, Carpenter handed Pashinyan a letter from U.S. President Joe Biden, which also addressed the peace agreement. Specifically, the letter states that the United States is ready to support a sustainable and dignified peace agreement to resolve the long-standing conflict between the two countries.
As you know, finalizing the remaining articles of the peace agreement will require perseverance, creativity, and compromise. However, by placing patriotism above politics, you have bravely and consistently chosen the path of peace, and I encourage you to finalize the agreement this year, the message states.
Regarding the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, Carpenter also met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
