Aliyev Complains About Sanctions Threatening Azerbaijan

The President of Azerbaijan has expressed dissatisfaction over the appeal by 60 American congressmen to the U.S. government, calling for new sanctions against Azerbaijan.

He touched on Armenia’s relations with certain Western countries, particularly the Armenian-French relations, warning them to leave the South Caucasus alone.

He claimed that Armenia is playing a dangerous game, talking about peace while arming itself.

Yesterday, around 60 American congressmen addressed a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken. They called for pressure to be applied on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to ensure the protection of human rights and the release of political prisoners ahead of the COP29 climate summit scheduled to take place in Baku this November.
