“Armenia Can Ensure Unimpeded Passage of Goods and Vehicles Through Its Territory,” Says Nikol Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan delivered a speech at the BRICS summit, addressing regional peace and stating that Armenia can ensure the unimpeded passage of goods and vehicles through its territory.
In reference to the theme “BRICS and the Global South: Let’s Build a Better World Together,” Pashinyan mentioned that the “Peace Crossroad” initiative is aimed at achieving this goal.
Armenia is prepared to facilitate the organization of transport, cargo, passengers, pipelines, and cable connections through its territory. This represents the shortest route between the Black Sea and the Persian Gulf, traversing Iran, Armenia, and Georgia, constituting a north-south corridor. Pashinyan emphasized that this route is also the shortest link between the Caspian and Marmara seas through the territories of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.
He also pointed out that this route could be utilized for transport communication between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan. Pashinyan reiterated that no discussions should take place regarding a third country ensuring the security of communications in Armenia’s sovereign territory.
In conclusion, he urged Azerbaijan to sign the agreement, as at least 80-90% of the “Peace Crossroad” initiative has already been agreed upon. The draft agreement addresses and resolves all fundamental issues necessary to establish a solid foundation for peace and normalize Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
