104 RA citizens stranded in India return to Yerevan

In recent days, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in India, which is also concurrently accredited to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal, has been operating in an emergency mode due to the situation established in the region. This was reported by the MFA.

The Embassy has been in contact with those RA citizens who remained in the countries of accreditation due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East and the subsequent cancellation of flights. This primarily concerns citizens in India and Sri Lanka for tourism purposes. Necessary information regarding them was collected, and possible options for their return to Armenia were considered.

The diplomatic mission also carried out relevant work toward obtaining flight permits, cooperating with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

As a result, late in the evening of March 5, participants of the “Seaside Startup Summit” held in India and members of the “Vardan Travel” tourist group—a total of 104 RA citizens—departed from Goa for Yerevan. The aircraft transporting them has already landed at Zvartnots International Airport.

According to the MFA, as of now, 12 RA citizens in Sri Lanka and 6 RA citizens in Goa, who are there mainly for tourism or business purposes, have also contacted the RA Embassy. The RA Embassy in New Delhi maintains daily contact with them and, in case of a desire for urgent departure, suggests considering various available options.

Additionally, two RA citizens in the Maldives have also contacted the Embassy, to whom possible travel options at the given moment were also presented.
