Armenian WhatsApp accounts are being massively subjected to cyberattacks
Armenian WhatsApp accounts have been under attack for a long time. Media experts have regularly addressed this issue. Today, Samvel Martirosyan posted an announcement on his Telegram channel, once again warning citizens to be cautious about their personal accounts.
It is not clear how the accounts are being hacked. The problem seems to be that hackers are likely obtaining the recovery code in a way where the user does not receive the message, but someone else does.
He also mentioned that the details are still unknown. However, he warned that hackers might also target Telegram accounts.
To protect yourself from cyberattacks, it is necessary to enable two-step verification on WhatsApp and use 6-digit codes to make your account more secure.
The cyberattacks started back in September of this year.
