Levon Aronian and Samuel Sevian Share Second Place in the U.S. Chess Championship
The U.S. Chess and Women’s Chess Championships took place from October 10 to 24 at the Saint Louis Chess Club.
In the U.S. Men’s Championship, Levon Aronian and Samuel Sevian shared second place.
In the women’s competition, Tatev Abrahamyan took a shared 8th position.
At the chess championship in Saint Louis, Aronian and Sevian scored 5.5 points out of a possible 11. Ray Robson, Leinier Dominguez Perez, Hans Niemann, and Awonder Liang also scored 5.5 points each. With a score of 7 points, Fabiano Caruana won the title of U.S. Champion.
The championship featured 12 participants and a prize fund of $250,000. Aronian and Sevian each earned $24,667, while Abrahamyan received $5,750.
