An explosion at one of Iran’s mines
At least 31 people were killed in an explosion at the Tabas coal mine in Iran’s South Khorasan province last night. Seventeen people are reported injured. Another 21 workers are reported missing.
The explosion was caused by a sudden release of methane gas in the coal mine. There were 69 workers working in the mine at the time.
Iranian President Masoud Al Pezeshkian expressed condolences to the families of the victims and ordered an immediate investigation.
