The countries of the region, G7 and China have issued statements. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yin said that Beijing supports Lebanon and condemns Israel’s attacks.
We pay great attention to the events taking place in the region and are categorically opposed to irregular attacks against the civilian population, Wang Yin said at the UN Assembly.
The minister also said that China will stand “on the side of justice and Arab brothers, including Lebanon.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also warned that Israel’s attacks on Lebanon could turn the region into chaos.
The latest attacks against Lebanon and the latest statements made by Israel are a clear manifestation of efforts to spread the war to the region, Erdogan said at an event organized by the Turkish-American National Steering Committee (TASC) in New York.
Foreign ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) are warning that actions and backlash in the Middle East risk dragging the region into a wider conflict from which no country will benefit.
They called for an end to the current destructive cycle, while stressing that no country can benefit from further escalation in the Middle East.
