The U.S. Promises a Response to Iran Alongside Israel

As previously mentioned, on the evening of October 1, Iran launched more than 200 ballistic missiles at Israel’s capital, Tel Aviv. According to Iranian media, this was in retaliation for the deaths of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Iran has also warned that if Israel retaliates, there will be even larger-scale attacks.

Israel has promised to strike back at Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Iran had made a “big mistake” and will “pay for it.”

On Tuesday, the U.S. warned that there would be “serious consequences” for Iran following its missile attack on Israel.

As for what the promised response to Iran might be, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the U.S. has already begun discussions on this matter with Israel.

Japan and Australia have joined the list of countries condemning Iran’s attack on Israel. French President Emmanuel Macron stated that French resources in the Middle East have been mobilized “to confront the Iranian threat.”

Al Jazeera has published footage showing celebrations in the streets of Tehran, Beirut, Baghdad, and Gaza following Iran’s strikes on Israel.

This was Iran’s second strike on Israel, following an operation in April, in response to Israel’s airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
