Sergey Shoigu visited Iran
Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu made an unscheduled visit to Iran. He was received by President Massoud Pezeshkian. Shoigu presented the president with reports on the agreements reached and delivered a personal message from Vladimir Putin.
Shoigu also held talks with Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian. He emphasized that Russia supports Iran’s policy on trade routes and corridors with Azerbaijan.
On Sunday, Shoigu met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus. According to a statement from Assad’s administration, the two sides discussed “a number of issues related to international and regional security, as well as bilateral relations between Russia and Syria.”
