Soon, drivers will no longer be required to carry their driver’s licenses with them: The Ministry of Internal Affairs
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, several new legislative initiatives will soon be introduced. They are primarily related to driver’s licenses.
Driving a vehicle without a valid driver’s license will be criminalized. Under the new law, first-time offenders will face administrative penalties, while repeat offenders will face criminal charges. Currently, driving without a license results in a fine of 25,000 AMD.
Another change will exempt drivers from carrying a physical driver’s license. Patrol officers will be able to verify whether a driver has a valid license through a digital system.
Additionally, the process for Armenian citizens with dual citizenship to drive in Armenia with a foreign driver’s license will be simplified.
The new regulations will also prohibit the sale of lockable knives and similar items to minors.
