Robots are already conducting orchestras
During the event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Dresden Symphony Orchestra, the three-armed robot “MAiRA” conducted a concert.
The robot is not designed to replace humans but to explore how people and machines can work together in music.
The concert consisted of two parts. In the first part, the orchestra was led by a human conductor, while in the second part, the robot took the lead. The robot had been trained for nearly two years by specialists. Each of its three arms has seven joints, allowing it to move in all directions.
It is noted that this is not the first attempt at robot conducting. In 2008, a robot also conducted a concert of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
