Media experts reacted to the news of a cyberattack by Russian hackers
Today, information spread on the Internet that Russian hackers attacked the database of the RA Prime Minister’s Office. A hacker group called “Cyber Wolf” wrote in microblog X that they gained access to the database and infected the UNIX system with a special “Linux” virus. They demanded that the government pay a ransom of 2.5 million dollars within 48 hours to prevent the system from being completely destroyed.
Armenian media experts made various publications on this topic. Artur Papyan posted on his Facebook page where he stated that this is not a real database server.
Since time immemorial, the Armenian government, in addition to its official website, has maintained a publicly accessible open ftp server, where it hosts materials: photos, videos, audio, which the media can take and use in their stories. Today, a hacker or hacker group called “Cyber Wolf” probably accidentally discovered this open ftp server and published screenshots from it. They also demanded a ransom, initially in the amount of $2.5 million dollars. Perhaps they realized that what they had done was not serious.
The RA government has not yet confirmed this information. It is noted that the relevant authorities are in the process of verifying the veracity of the information.
